The Pressure Is on…. Or is it?

When your tire pressure is off, your vehicle will be off. When you drive around on damaged or under-inflated tires, you’re putting yourself, your passengers, and your fellow drivers at risk. Not to mention the reduction in performance and handling that comes with it! Your TPMS system helps increase your safety on the road by greatly improving your vehicle’s handling, decreasing tread wear and braking distance, as well as increased performance and fuel economy.

There are two types of pressure monitoring systems: direct, and indirect.

  • Direct TPMS involves sensors placed on the inside of your tire's assembly to constantly transmit and update tire pressure information to your vehicle’s computer system.
  • Indirect TPMS gauges tire pressure via your vehicle’s Anti-Lock Braking System by using speed sensors to measure the speed of your vehicle.

Though they measure your tire's air pressure in different ways, all TPMS systems require regular maintenance in order to meet and maintain maximum performance standards–a requirement for all vehicles to be equipped with a fully functioning tire pressure monitoring system.

Think of your TPMS system as your guy on the inside (of your tire, that is!) When your tire pressure fluctuates to a dangerous degree your TPMS will sensor will detect and report the issue to you via the indicator light on your vehicle’s dashboard. When you see the TPMS light engaged, it's important for you to check your tire pressure as soon as possible, inflate to the manufacturer’s recommended level, or bring your vehicle into our shop in order to receive quality service from experts who care. During one of our TPMS maintenance procedures, our team of skilled technicians will run a series of tests to ensure, first, that your TPMS system is working properly. If our team finds evidence of damage to the system or its related parts, they may need to replace valve cores, nuts, seals and washers,or even valve caps.

When you’re in need of TPMS repairs, maintenance, replacement, or installation services, we’re the folks to visit. Give us a call, or feel free to request a quote from us online.
